Best wedding video EVER

This is the BEST wedding video ever.
I could not stop smiling while watching.

I like to think about how much fun they must have had making it on the big day!

Beat the heat

Here's an amazing idea for a summer wedding:
Hand-drawn fans with little portraits of the key players as a guide!

No more whispers of "WHO'S THE CHUBBY ONE WITH THE CUTE HAIRCUT?" or "ISN'T THAT THE ONE THAT SHE DATED FOR THREE YEARS IN COLLEGE?" They may be thinking it, but at least they won't have to ask their seatmates during the ceremony! :)

Hand-drawn invites

I LOVE the whimsical style of these hand-drawn invites created by Anna Bond of RIFLE.

Here is one from a lovely wedding taking place in the mountains of North Carolina:

A closeup of the map and the whole package:

and a view of the RSVP website she designed to match the invites...

The RSVP website is brilliant. Here is another take on it, different style altogether:

And finally, an elegant NYC wedding, with a bride who has a penchant for astronomy maps:

See more of Anna's work at her portfolio, and her blog. Special thanks to Green Wedding Shoes, who brought all this loveliness to my attention!

The Sex and the City Dress Test

This is a test. It is not an official test, and is in no way scientific or intellectual or frankly, based on more than 10 minutes of pondering. But it is a test, nonetheless. Prepare yourself.

Which Sex and the City wedding makes your heart soar?

A. Charlotte's first: Huge. Traditional WASP. Society. Expensive. Scottish Fairy tale.B. Charlotte's second: Smaller? Traditional Jewish. Expensive. Romantic.
C. Miranda's: In a tiny park in Manhattan. Very small crowd. Burgundy velvet suit.D. Carrie's first attempt: New York Public Library. Very public. Very couture.E. Carrie's second: New York City Hall. Just her and Mr. Big. Vintage suit.
They are all amazing, right? But one really calls your name, doesn't it? Which one?

Make all our dreams come true...

You know the chorus from the old TV show Laverne & Shirley?

"And we'll do it our way, yes our way!
Make all our dreams come true... for me and you."

That tune keeps winding about in my mind as I embark on a new adventure: Wedding Consultant!

Actually, this dream is years and years in the making. I remember my first advisement meeting as a freshman at a very rigorous music school.... the professor (an organist and historian, as quirkily academic as they come) asked me what I wanted to do with my life. "Well really I'd like to be a wedding planner!" I announced, blissfully unaware of the incongruity of my statement as I was about to embark on a very different, very difficult life path all together. And since that fateful day, I have made my living primarily as a musician, but also an event planner in NYC, a caterer, a florist, a crafter and an opera director..... hmmmm.... all paths that indirectly point to this one!

Join me now as I dip a toe into the wonderful world of wedding planning.
